Forsaken Generators: The Puzzle, the Timer and Noli’s Fakes
Five per map, and they are the whole objective
Generators are currently the only public objective in Forsaken. Five spawn on every map, at fixed spots. They are technically optional — you can hide for four minutes — but repairing them is what shortens the round, and the round timer is the survivor win condition.
They appear on all public and private maps except SFOTH and Generator Hell.
The numbers that matter
| Thing | Value |
|---|---|
| Generators per map | 5 |
| Players who can repair one at once | 3 |
| Puzzle layers per generator | 4 |
| Timer removed per layer | 3 seconds |
| Timer removed per full generator | 12 seconds |
| Timer removed if all five are done | 60 seconds |
| Player Points per generator | 5 |
| EXP per generator | 15 (18.5 with VIP) |
| Interact hold | 1 second |
A full clear takes a quarter of the round off the clock. That is the maths behind why survivor teams that split onto generators beat teams that stay together.
How the puzzle works
Interacting from the front, left or right side crouches your character and opens a 6x6 grid minigame in the style of Flow Free. Between 1 and 13 pairs of coloured, numbered dots are generated and you connect each pair without crossing another wire.
Two things worth knowing that are not obvious in the moment:
- You do not need to fill every empty tile. You only need to connect the colours. Players waste seconds trying to reach a completed-looking grid.
- You can reset a single cable by clicking its start point, or walk a wire backwards by clicking a tile it already occupies. You do not have to restart the layer.
Damage ejects you, and progress does not save
If you take damage while repairing, you are kicked out automatically. And when you re-enter, you get a brand new puzzle — the layer you were part-way through is gone.
This is the mechanic that punishes starting a generator with chase music audible. The terror radius numbers on the killers page are, in practice, a guide to when it is safe to sit down at one.
Fake generators: Noli only
One killer breaks this system on purpose. Noli’s two passives interfere with generators specifically:
- Prankster places two fake generators on the map. Repairing one gives you a Hallucination status, which stacks up to three and makes you more vulnerable to the rest of his kit.
- Hallucinations at level one and above makes the generator counter itself lie to you. The display can move from (3/5) to (4/5) or from (4/5) back to (3/5) — the count changes after a fake is repaired.
So against Noli, a generator count that moves in the wrong direction is not a bug and not a teammate undoing your work. It is the killer’s passive doing exactly what it was designed to do. What Hallucination and the other 35 statuses do in detail is on the status effects page.
Practical order of operations
- Listen before you sit down. Chase music means somebody else’s generator is the safer one.
- Take a side with a teammate where you can — three players on one generator is allowed and the layers go three times faster.
- Connect colours, do not fill tiles.
- If you are ejected, do not immediately re-enter the same generator. The killer that hit you is still there and the puzzle has reset anyway.
- Against Noli, treat the counter as advisory.
